Top tips for getting the most out of the Cinapsis platform

July 28, 2022

We’re always working in close collaboration with our NHS partners to design and develop specially tailored features which help make our platform easy and intuitive to use. So whether your organisation has just adopted Cinapsis and you’re about to be onboarded, or you’ve been using our platform for a while, you’ll want to make sure you’re using it to its full potential.

Use of Cinapsis has been proven to significantly reduce unnecessary referrals and cut down patient waiting times for specialist care. But a whole host of additional benefits are also available to clinicians that can deliver significant time savings and optimise outcomes for patients.

Ready to find out how to reap the full benefits and get the most out of Cinapsis? Whether you’re a primary care clinician, specialist consultant or administrator, read on to learn about the features you’re going to wish you’d known about sooner!

For primary care clinicians:

File images back into TPP/EMIS

Clinical images - including photos, x-rays and scans - can be seamlessly uploaded into existing TPP and EMIS systems, even when you’re not raising a case. This makes images more easily accessible to relevant clinicians and reduces your information governance risk by ensuring sensitive data is securely uploaded and stored.

Ask a patient to send in images

If you’re conducting an appointment remotely, you can avoid calling patients into the surgery by asking them to send in diagnostic images using their own mobile device. These can be sent to clinicians who can then access them directly in their Cinapsis app. To comply with regulations and governance standards, the image is never downloaded or stored on the device used to access the platform.

Ability to reply through Cinapsis when asked for more information

You can respond directly to the specialist dealing with your advice and guidance request using the messaging or call function within the Cinapsis app. This means there’s no need to resubmit the request when additional information is required, saving you time and speeding up the referral process.

Use dictation to fill out forms

Fed up of spending precious clinical time manually typing up patient information? Our dictation tool enables you - or another member of practice staff - to speak into your mobile or desktop device instead, automatically transcribing this into text for use in reports.

Attach previous cases for the patient, where relevant, to current case

Cinapsis is fully integrated with the electronic patient record system. This means that, where you may have referred a patient before, you can directly attach the previous case via the drop down list beneath “Attach Image”. This will provide those reviewing the current case with a clearer picture of the patient’s relevant medical history, helping speed up and guide any shared clinical decision making.

For secondary care specialists:

Access tailored forms to reduce manual typing

You may find yourself repeatedly typing out the same replies to advice and guidance requests. Whether it’s a specific diagnosis or a recommended treatment plan, speak to your Cinapsis customer support representative about building a tailored drop-down list from which you can choose from your most common responses.

eRS interface

Following a request for Advice and Guidance, the Cinapsis eRS integration enables specialists to directly send patients to their booking team should a concern be identified following triage. This optimises the clinical process: for patients, it reduces time spent waiting for a decision on their care; for primary care clinicians, it reduces administrative time spent manually entering information into eRS; and for you and your colleagues in secondary care, as all triage work is done in Cinapsis, you can be sure the patients you are most worried about are being passed across to the booking team directly. This gives you additional control over the prioritisation of urgent cases.

Using Cinapsis to triage, prior to the patient being passed into eRS for booking, also supports more accurate decision making, due to there being no restriction on the size, type or quantity of the images/files being passed between primary and secondary care settings. Cinapsis even handles full OCT scans to enable Optometrists to submit vital information to Ophthalmologists. This provides you with a more complete picture of each referral, helping you make quicker, more immediate decisions on whether an individual needs to be seen in secondary care.

Convert photos of handwriting into text

If you’ve busily copied down handwritten notes during a call, you don’t need to manually type them up to add them to the system. Upload a photo of your notes and our system will convert them into text, freeing up time for you to spend with patients instead.

Search for and view past cases

Need to return to a previous case to review or add additional information? Our handy search function means there’s no need to scroll endlessly to find specific cases.

Other helpful features:

Single sign in with NHSMail

Avoid having to juggle (and forget) two different sets of passwords; instantly login to our platform using your existing NHSMail details.

Seamless EROC mapping

Is your team finding time is being taken up reporting EROC summary data to NHS England and Improvement? Cinapsis makes it easier for data to be fed into the Data Collection Framework through standardised specialist outcomes corresponding to EROC requirements. This reduces the administration required to report data, freeing up time for your team to be spent on patient care.

Your organisation can also opt in to automatic data uploading, to make the process even quicker!
