Why Cinapsis is supporting Battle of the DermSocs 2022/23

January 23, 2023

Cinapsis is thrilled to be supporting the British Skin Foundation’s Battle of the DermSocs (BOTDS) 22/23. The annual fundraising initiative brings together dermatology societies from universities across the UK to compete to raise the most amount of money for skin disease research.

In the UK, cases of skin cancer have more than doubled over the past 30 years and patients with suspected skin cancer are facing some of the longest wait times for specialist care. Research has never been more vital for finding new and innovative ways to diagnose and treat skin diseases, including cancer, and improve patient outcomes and recovery.

At Cinapsis, we’re helping drive faster access to urgent care through the launch of teledermatology projects with a number of our NHS partners, including Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership and North Norfolk Primary Care.

So we are proud to be supporting Battle of the DermSocs 22/23 as they work to raise the profile of skin disease research and gather vital funds to help improve treatments and optimise outcomes for patients.

BOTDS fundraising highlights

Despite Covid-19 restrictions, previous years’ winners Glasgow DermSoc (2021/22) and Birmingham Dermsoc (2020/21) raised an impressive £2079 and £2259, respectively. The societies arranged many successful events to raise money for the British Skin Foundation, including raffles, sports challenges and a number of dermatology conferences featuring some fantastic speakers.

Participating DermSocs have shown huge commitment to raising money for BOTDS, with one group even running their own charity head shave!

DermSocs have also been competing to achieve the greatest media presence throughout their fundraising campaign, spreading awareness of the cause through social media and other online platforms. You can stay up to date with this years’ participating teams here.

It’s fantastic to see the efforts being made by DermSocs around the UK to raise money for skin disease research through BOTDS. We’re so proud to be supporting this year’s campaign and can’t wait to see what the participating DermSocs have planned for 2022/2023. Good luck to everyone taking part!
