We’re partnering with EMIS to further boost collaboration between primary and secondary care

March 4, 2021

At this pivotal moment in the battle against COVID-19, digital providers must work together to deliver secure, fully-compliant interoperability.
- Dr Owain Rhys Hughes, CEO of Cinapsis

Last month marked the official launch of our partnership with EMIS, an important step on our mission to improve access to clinical advice & guidance between primary and secondary care.

Who are EMIS?

EMIS are an innovative technology company, helping organisations across every major health and care setting to make truly connected care a reality.

EMIS Web is a clinical system used by primary care practitioners nation-wide. It gives clinicians access to complete and shared patient medical records as required, enabling them to deliver care efficiently.

What does the partnership involve?

We have integrated our services so that, once procured, our SmartReferrals platform can be accessed by primary care clinicians via a dedicated toolbar on their EMIS Web clinical systems*.

Users will benefit from single click access to the full suite of Cinapsis products (Cinapsis SmartReferrals, PhotoConsult and VideoConsult), a dynamic launch, and read and write interoperability with their existing clinical system.

*This functionality is also available for SystmOne users

What impact will the partnership have?

The new partnership will make specialist advice and guidance immediately available to GP practices across the country, as well as enabling the automatic filing of all communication between primary and secondary care into the patient’s medical record.

By making communication and collaboration easier, faster and more secure, this service integration will deliver significant time savings for frontline NHS staff. Cinapsis is now more accessible to clinicians than ever before, and this will prove invaluable in helping clinicians to manage the combined pressures of COVID patients, vaccination delivery and escalating waiting lists.

The integration comes hot on the heels of Cinapsis’s inclusion in the NHSX Clinical Communications Framework as a recommended clinical communication tool, the NHSX DPS for Electronic Eyecare Referral Systems and in the NHSX Dermatology Digital Playbook as a trusted platform for reducing outpatient appointments.
