The Cinapsis 2022 Roundup

January 3, 2023

Over the past year, NHS staff have shown unfailing dedication and worked tirelessly in the face of growing patient demand, significant care backlogs and urgent care bed shortages. Innovation has had an integral part to play in supporting them to face these challenges throughout 2022, providing new modes of collaboration to enable the continued delivery of outstanding levels of care.

At Cinapsis, we couldn’t be prouder to be working closely with clinicians across the NHS to help tackle the elective care wait lists and speed up access to urgent care. 2022 has been a year of significant growth - from entering new partnerships to welcoming new colleagues to our team, and introducing new system updates and features to further support our brilliant clinicians.

We’re so grateful to our amazing healthcare workforce and are excited to continue collaborating with our NHS partners throughout 2023. First, let’s take a look back at the highlights of a busy 2022…

Top achievements for Cinapsis in 2022

  • In March, we hit a milestone 100,000 Advice and Guidance requests receiving a specialist response on the Cinapsis SmartReferrals platform
  • Over 135 product improvements and enhancements have gone live since January 2022

Top ten moments of 2022

  1. The year got off to a flying start as we were listed by the Department for International Trade as one of their First 100 UK Digital Health Companies.
  2. February saw the rollout of our Cambridgeshire optometry project, in partnership with the CCG and two Cambridgeshire NHS Trusts. It was a pleasure to film with BBC Look East to demonstrate the positive impact of the project on access to eyecare in the region.
  3. The team had an amazing time attending the HETT Show - it was great to meet and connect with many of you there!
  4. In the spring, we launched a teledermatology service in partnership with Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. With Cinapsis, 49% of cases submitted were successfully managed with advice and guidance alone.
  5. Later on in the year, we launched the Wirral Teledermatology Service at the Wirral Skin Club. It was great to meet and speak to the incredible primary care clinicians driving innovation in the region.

  6. We launched a number of new features in September - including secretarial case permission, which has freed up more time for clinicians and is helping streamline the referral process.
  7. In October, we were delighted to join Dr Nick Boeckx for an EMIS Health webinar discussing how to improve clinical outcomes in primary care.
  8. In November, we were delighted to win ‘Most Innovative Clinical Communications Platform 2022 - England’ in the Global Health & Pharma Global Excellence Awards.
  9. It was great to see our Founder and CEO, Dr Owain Rhys Hughes, speaking at the Health Strategy Forum. The conference provided an insightful space to speak with a number of influential healthcare leaders and innovators, and discuss the key challenges currently facing our NHS.
  10. And in December, we were thrilled to be listed as finalists with Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for HealthTech Partnership of the Year in the HSJ 2023 Awards.

Events

We attended a lot of great events this year. It was brilliant to be able to meet so many of you in person as well as through virtual events online. Here are a few of our highlights:

  • In May, we were delighted to be at the Patient Flow Conference 2022 to discuss changes in national policy and strategic change.
  • July saw the Cinapsis team travel to Glasgow to attend the British Association of Dermatologists Annual Conference.
  • We also exhibited at the HETT Show 2022, the UK’s leading healthtech and digital health event. Our Business Development Manager, Carl, shared his thoughts on the event, and the role of digital in elective recovery, over on our blog.

Expanding the Cinapsis team in 2022

It’s been great to welcome some brilliant new members to our team over the past year. Sarah Gilroy (Project Manager) joined in January. We welcomed Georgia Kingston (Head of Marketing) in February, and Rahman Malik (Lead Product Designer) in April. In the summer, Mick Vought (Head of Product) came on board and Lee Willmore (Customer Care Representative) became the newest member of the team in November.

It is great to be part of such a passionate and dedicated team, all committed to a shared mission of improving outcomes for patients and clinicians. We continue to prioritise mental wellbeing support as a team, and this year we introduced a number of new initiatives and resources, including sessions with Sanctus, the UK’s first mental health gym.
