Meet The Cinapsis Team: Anca Leucon, Product Owner

October 21, 2022

Since she joined the Cinapsis team in 2019, Anca has played a vital role in helping ensure our platform is developed to meet the nuanced needs and challenges faced by NHS clinicians. She’s held a number of different roles but has always worked closely with our customers to help optimise the user experience.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your professional background:
While my career has certainly been varied, I have always worked in customer-facing roles; from interpreting English into Romanian for vulnerable people in the NHS, to managing million-dollar accounts in programmatic advertising. I enjoy working closely with people to navigate the problems or hurdles they are facing and collaborating on a genuine solution that really works.

When (and why) did you join Cinapsis?
I wanted to find a truly rewarding purpose around which to centre my work. I joined Cinapsis three years ago at a time when the company had just gotten its first customer. Joining at an early stage in the company’s development meant there was a lot of work to be done; this gave me the opportunity to get stuck in and work on something I was really passionate about.

My role was very varied in the beginning, working on internal processes and branding - from redesigning our website, to organising our presence at events and producing our first case studies. I then moved on to producing our user manuals, guides and training videos, and supported with delivering training for our new end users. This went hand in hand with offering customer support, which led me to take on the role before hiring our first dedicated Customer Support Representative.

Since then, I’ve been involved in testing all of our product improvements and new features, and I recently took on a new role as Product Owner, working within our incredible Product team. Throughout my time so far at Cinapsis, one common thread throughout every role I’ve held is that I’ve never stopped working with and listening to our customers.

What specific skills and experience do you bring to the role?
I am a certified Scrum Product Owner and I hold myself to a high standard in the work I do. I’m very detail-oriented and bring a wealth of product knowledge to the role. My motivation stems from a genuine desire to improve as many patients’ quality of life as possible by enabling better, more streamlined communication between clinicians. To this end, I’m working to make Cinapsis even more integrated, user-friendly and efficient than ever before.

What are your responsibilities?
My role is to bring the product vision and roadmap items to fruition. I manage the product backlog by liaising with key stakeholders in the Discovery & Scoping phase, writing user stories, testing improvements with early adopters and communicating changes to our customers.

What does a typical day look like in your role?
My day is an exciting mix of activities around our product release cycle - I could be working with our Product Manager to scope a new requirement or I could be actively involved in conversations around product design and development. Nothing beats showing a new feature to one of our end users and seeing their excitement ahead of a new release!

What’s the best thing about being in the Cinapsis team?
We’re a group of people who really support and help each other succeed. We all come to work wanting to do our best, we bring a great work ethic and our get-togethers are always a lot of fun. I couldn’t have asked for a better team – I’m learning from every one of them every day.

What’s been your proudest achievement in your role to date?
One of my proudest achievements has been implementing a new helpdesk system for offering customer support and training. Using this new platform has increased our efficiency and improved our communication with customers, while allowing us to report back on activity more easily and with more data than before.

What are your aims and ambitions for the remainder of 2022?
Currently, I’m involved in delivering an exciting new integration for our customers. This will improve access to patient data for Trusts and enable clinicians to make more accurate assessments of their patients and more well-informed decisions on their care. I also look forward to delivering on more roadmap items that we’re currently working on. Watch this space!

What does the next year hold for Cinapsis? What are you excited about?
This year has seen our product really get embedded with NHS platforms and other EPR and PAS systems and I’m looking forward to continuing this work next year. We’ve got a lot of exciting new product improvements planned.

Have you got any fun or interesting facts we should know about you?
I like to collect pebbles from all the places I visit! Also, I’m a member of the Effective Altruism movement, where we focus on doing the most good we can with the resources we have available.
