Cinapsis Meet the Team: Rahman Malik - Lead Product Designer

June 27, 2022

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your professional background

My passion for design began at a very young age. I’ve been lucky enough to pursue this professionally across a wide range of industries and have been working as a product designer for the past eight years. Most recently, this has included working within the corporate and enterprise sectors at Reachdesk and Workshare, and with healthcare solutions providers Acacium Group.

In my spare time, I love to travel, cook and try out new restaurants. I’m obsessed with coffee and spend time sourcing the best coffee beans I can from different parts of the world to enjoy!

When did you join Cinapsis and what skills did you bring to the team?

I’ve been a part of the Cinapsis team since April 2022. I’ve always been driven by working on products that really help people and have a meaningful impact. Plus, the world of health tech has always fascinated me. Cinapsis have identified a real issue within the healthcare space and are working to help solve it. I was drawn to the challenge this presented from a product design perspective. So joining Cinapsis was a no-brainer!

I am really interested in how people think and the psychology behind why they make certain decisions. This passion has informed my previous experience in product design and the skills I brought with me to the Cinapsis team. I like to create experiences that are both pleasing to the eye and to the mind.

What is your role at Cinapsis and what does a typical day look like?

My day begins by checking which tasks need prioritising within each project. I’ll often speak with my colleagues to discuss next steps and to get their perspective and input. Then it’s usually time to hit ‘play’ on a good Spotify playlist and focus in on design.

No two days are ever the same. Working within a startup means that things can move quite quickly and you have to be able to adapt and change alongside this. It’s a fast-paced environment and it’s a lot of fun!

What’s the best thing about being part of Cinapsis and what’s your proudest achievement to date?

Quite simply, the best thing about Cinapsis is the people. I feel very lucky to be working with such a group of talented individuals. Everyone is so helpful and we all want each other to succeed. It’s great to be working with such a collaborative team. All the resources you need to thrive are at your disposal here.

My proudest achievement so far has to have been introducing and implementing a new product process to the team. This is helping us to prioritise and focus on features that will have the maximum impact on our users.

What are your aims and ambitions for the remainder of 2022?

I’m excited to continue revamping the Cinapsis platform. It’s not only about making it look good, but optimising its functionality, too. I want the experience to be absolutely flawless for our users. I’ve got big plans for taking our product to the next level.

What does the next year hold for Cinapsis? What are you excited about?

I’ve only been here a short while, but I’m truly excited by the groundbreaking offering Cinapsis is building. It’s impacting so many lives in such a positive way. I’m looking forward to the potential and opportunities that await us in 2023. I feel as though we are on a rocketship and I am lucky enough to have bagged myself a seat!

Have you got any hidden talents or fun facts you’d like to share?

I have a deep-rooted passion for food and travel, so I try to combine the two as much as I can. For my 30th birthday, I went from spending a quiet day with my family in a gloomy London to ending up on an unforgettable trip to Nairobi and Zanzibar. I also have a very dangerous sweet tooth which once left me spending £300 in a cake shop…
