Cinapsis Meet the Team: Carl Woodroffe

April 22, 2022

As Business Development Manager for the South and West, Carl is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with our partners in these regions.

Tell us a little bit about your professional background before joining Cinapsis

Before joining Cinapsis, I held a number of different roles in healthcare. For three and five years respectively, I managed two separate GP practices in Gloucestershire. Between these two roles I spent time working for Vision, an IT system supplier to general practice. While there, I was able to install Vision in more than 400 GP practices and enhance several IT and management systems.

Besides this, I have also previously led on population health and shared record solutions within a number of CCGs. I was responsible for helping improve health outcomes, data quality and joined-up working across large geographical areas.

How long have you been at Cinapsis and what skills do you bring to the team?

I’ve been a part of the Cinapsis team for 18 months now. I’d say the most important skill I bring to the table is my ability to help our NHS partners articulate the challenges they are facing and, when appropriate, advise them on ways to help manage or improve them. This really revolves around building trust. It’s hugely important to me to take time to fully understand the problems, needs and preferences at play to ensure that we’re able to help in the most effective way.

Maintaining this level of authenticity helps me to create strong and supportive relationships with our partners. Once I’ve really got to the bottom of the challenge being faced, our team is great at explaining if and how we can help, and identifying the key benefits that can be delivered.

What were your first impressions when joining the company?

I was honestly blown away by the product. It answered a very obvious need - one I had experienced myself when working in primary care - and it was the first time I’d seen such a solution.

The company culture also really appealed to me. At Cinapsis, we have a dedicated team ethic and our ability to respond to customers is second to none. Throughout 20+ years of working in and with the NHS, I’ve never seen anything like it.

What’s the best thing about working at Cinapsis?

It’s so rewarding to maintain an ongoing relationship with our partners and service users, listening to their feedback and using this to drive forward further improvements and support even more clinical teams. It’s so great to see our product making a genuinely positive impact on the lives of clinicians and their patients.

What does a typical day in your role look like?

A huge part of my role is to interact with existing users, prospects and partners, to understand the challenges they’re facing and discuss the ways that we can help.

As well as this, I spend a lot of time looking at potential new ways of working. We’re always focusing on how we can improve systems and ensure that clinicians can get the most out of the platform.

What are your goals and ambitions for the coming months/years?

It might sound a little corny, but I thrive on pushing myself to undertake new challenges. In the coming months, my goal is to demonstrate to as many NHS organisations as possible the transformation possible with digital dialogue and support. I want to work with even more organisations to help them implement this, and support clinicians with intuitive solutions.

Any fun or interesting facts we should know about you?

I can juggle! I also set out on a mission to learn how to complete a Rubiks’ cube this year. In my free time you can also usually find me on the golf course, out in the countryside exploring, and managing an under 11s football team - all three of which can be equally painful and rewarding!
